Research and Innovation Office initiates Training-Workshop on Utilizing Online Databases for Research: Exploring Digital Data Sources

The Office of Research and Innovation successfully conducted the Training-Workshop on Utilizing Online Databases for Research: Exploring Digital Data Sources on March 3, 2025, at the RIES Training Hall.
The event opened with an inspiring message from Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services, highlighting the critical role of research in driving innovation and sustainable development.
SLSU was honored to host distinguished resource speakers: Prof. Don Eliseo Prisno III, NRCP RD-Leader, and Mr. Jerico Ogaya, NRCP-RD Lead Assistant. Their expertise provided participants with valuable insights on maximizing digital resources for research, enhancing data-driven decision-making, and fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing.
The workshop aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 4: Quality Education – by promoting access to digital research tools and fostering lifelong learning; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – by advancing research capabilities through digital innovation; SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – by engaging experts and institutions to strengthen research collaborations.
Engr. Khorina O. Aguilar, Director for Research and Innovation, concluded the activity by encouraging participants to actively engage in future Capability Development Activities to further enhance their research skills.
Through initiatives like this, Southern Leyte State University reaffirms its commitment to fostering a sustainable research culture, empowering scholars, and contributing to global development efforts.
