SLSU-MCC Strengthens Community Livelihood Systems in Brgy. Lonoy Through Incentive and Profit-Sharing Training
Maasin City — Southern Leyte State University–Maasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC), through its Extension Services, successfully conducted a Training on Setting Up a System of Group Incentive and Group Profit Dividends on November 26, 2025, at the Brgy. Lonoy Gymnasium. The activity gathered 40 local farmers and formed part of the Transformed and Resilient Community through Alternative Indigenous Livelihoods (TRAIL) Project – Cycle II.
The training aimed to help community members establish a fair and sustainable system of incentives and profit-sharing within their organization. More than a technical discussion, the activity addressed a long-standing challenge in community-based livelihood projects: how to sustain motivation, ensure fairness, and promote collective growth beyond short-term assistance.
During the morning sessions, participants were introduced to the importance of structured group incentives, the benefits of profit dividends, and the legal frameworks governing community and group savings. These discussions emphasized accountability, transparency, and compliance—critical foundations for long-term financial stability. Resource speakers highlighted that clear systems help prevent internal conflict and strengthen trust among members.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to application. Participants learned how to design a group incentive program and how to implement a practical profit dividend mechanism that ensures equitable distribution of earnings. The sessions reinforced the idea that community progress is built through cooperation and shared responsibility rather than competition.
Participants actively engaged throughout the day, sharing experiences and raising questions rooted in their own organizational realities. By the end of the training, they gained a clearer understanding of how incentive and profit-sharing systems can improve productivity, strengthen teamwork, and support sustainable livelihoods.
This initiative reflects why SLSU-MCC continues to invest in extension services: to bridge academic knowledge and community practice. By empowering local organizations with systems that promote fairness and sustainability, the university supports communities like Brgy. Lonoy in building resilience, strengthening local economies, and ensuring that development efforts lead to lasting impact.
