SLSU-TO Extends Aid to Landslide-Affected Families in "Operation Tabang ni Tomas 5.0"

Southern Leyte State University - Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO) spearheaded a relief response operation, termed "Operation Tabang ni Tomas 5.0," to provide immediate assistance to families displaced by a recent landslide in Barangay San Ramon, San Ricardo. The relief effort was led by the SLSU-TO Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (RIES) Office, under the direction of Dr. Mark Galdo, RIES Head. SLSU-TO officials, including Dr. Clemente H. Cobilla, Campus Director, and Mrs. Ma. Jovillea Palanca, Extension Coordinator, along with personnel from the RIES office, actively joined in the distribution.
A total of 40 affected families received much-needed family food packs and other essential items. These families are currently seeking shelter in Barangay Saub, San Ricardo.
This initiative signifies the university's commitment to supporting local communities during times of crisis and demonstrates its dedication to providing immediate relief and assistance. Furthermore, this aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
