Empowering Communities Through Financial Literacy: Training Held in Brgy. Esperanza 1, San Ricardo
The Financial Literacy Training under Project AMUMA: Cultivating Financial Resilience for Marginalized Farmers and Fisherfolk’s Economic Growth reached another milestone on November 27, 2024, with a successful session held in Brgy. Esperanza 1, San Ricardo, Southern Leyte. This initiative aimed to equip farmers and fisherfolk with essential financial knowledge and skills to improve their economic stability and resilience.
The training session, conducted at the barangay's covered court, was expertly hosted by Jericho Bahinting, who kept the program engaging and well-organized. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice-President of Research, Innovation, and Extension Services, who provided inspiration and support to the attendees.
Barangay Captain Hon. Roel M. Campos opened the event with an empowering message, emphasizing the importance of financial literacy in transforming lives and fostering economic growth within the community.
The session was led by Resource Speaker Christian James Lopina, whose expertise and dynamic presentation captivated the audience. He discussed key financial topics, including debt management, savings strategies, and practical budgeting techniques. Participants were encouraged to apply these lessons in their daily lives to achieve long-term financial stability.
Supporting the session were Facilitators Mylyn Agapay, Ronald Tecson, Amber Ghea Pablo, and Krissanto Ray Mogueis, who conducted interactive activities to deepen participants’ understanding of the topics. These facilitators ensured that the training was not only informative but also engaging, encouraging attendees to actively participate and share their insights.
The participants underwent pre- and post-tests to measure their knowledge and progress throughout the session. These assessments highlighted significant learning gains, reflecting the effectiveness of the training in empowering attendees with essential financial skills.
In her brief address, Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy commended the efforts of the organizers and emphasized the importance of continuous education and community empowerment.
