Supreme Student Council

SSC Quaran-thing Saya!

The SSC Quaran-thing Saya started last November 13, 2020 via google meet and was synchronously live streamed on SSC Facebook page. The event is a three week long series of activities with a different area to be contested every day. These are the series of activities:

● Monday Sulat-serye – an essay competition
● Tuesday trivia – a live online quiz via google meet
● Wednesday Edutiktokasyon – an online tiktok contest
● Throwback Thursday – photo and caption contest
● Friday Art-Marathon – festival of different kinds of art

The activity was participated by different student organizations of SLSU- main campus and ended on December 7, 2020 with the recognition of winners and appreciation of the organizers.

Scholars’ Organization for Progress

SOP Clean-Up Drive

In line with the purpose of the organization to promote environmentalism. The Scholars’ Organization for Progress conducted a clean-up drive within the vicinity of Southern Leyte State University - Main Campus as the organization wants to be part of the restoration after the Intramurals Meet 2019. The event was conducted last October 30, 2019 at Southern Leyte State University - Main Campus GrandStand.

Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineer SLSU  

PSME – SLSU conducts 7th SUMMIT

The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers of Southern Leyte State University (PSME-SLSU) conducted its 7th Summit on December 4, 2019 at the USSC Plenary Hall at SLSU Main Campus. 

This summit creates a shared sense of opportunities for leadership and change, this opens up issues than resolve them. This develops to a high level strategy and/or addresses a crucial, overarching problem. It is meant to deal with the sorts of things that will impact the future of the business and not mundane day-to-day issues, with the 2016 ME Board Exam 1st place top-notcher Engr. Elso Umbao Elumbaring as the Resource Speaker.

The summit was attended by the Mechanical Engineering Students in SLSU-Main Campus.

 

Organization of Education Students 

OES conducts Bigay Puso Program

The Organization of Education Students (OES) conducted a Bigay Puso Program on December 19, 2019 at Barangay Zone 1, Sogod, Southern Leyte.

Since Christmas is the season of sharing and giving, as per tradition of the organization, they conducted their yearly “Bigay Puso Program” which aims to help in their own little ways the less fortunate people of Brgy. Zone 1, Sogod, Southern Leyte. The organization’s activity includes giving of relief goods.

The program was hosted by the organization which was participated by the department of teacher education’s faculty and students. Around 50 beneficiaries were given and the activity ended with gratitude present in the air and a sense of fulfillment of the people who participated and organized the event.

 

Philippine Institute of Civil Engineering Organization

PICE SLSU-MC attends National PICE Quiz Regional Elimination

The 5th year civil engineering students under the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineering (PICE) Organization from Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus (SLSU-MC) took home the 7th and 8th place among the 21 participants from different schools in Region 8 on September 14, 2019 at EVSU-Tacloban.

The 5th year civil engineering students were trained and accompanied by Engr. Raymart Bulagsac in the Annual National PICE quiz regional elimination.

 

College of Engineering and Technology Student Organization

CET-SO participates the Intramurals 2019

This intramural meet has been the most memorable for the College of Engineering and Technology-Student Organization (CET-SO) to participate the Intramural Meet 2019 on October 22-25, 2019 wherein different sports and recreational activities took place simultaneously at Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus (SLSU-MC).  

For the first time since CET-SO was established the team Great Griffins has bagged the overall championship. 

There were 4 teams which were competing for the championship, namely; Great Griffins for CET-SO, Flaming sparrows for College of Criminal Justice (CCJ), Fierce Phoenix for College of Teacher Education (CTE), and College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM), and Webmasters for College of Computer Studies and Information Technology (CCSIT).

 

Institute of the Integrated Electrical Engineers- Student Council

Student Organizations in SLSU-MC prepares for Pasko sa SLSU

Together with the Student Organizations i.e, College of Engineering-Student Organization (CET-SO), Philippine Institute of Civil Engineering (PICE), Electrical Technology Student Organization (ETSO), Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineering (PSME), and Institute of Computer Engineer of the Philippines.Student Edition (ICpEP.SE) put their hands together in preparation for the “Pasko sa Southern Leyte State University” on November 2019 at Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus (SLSU-MC). 

Ideas and time spent over a month in realizing the formulated plans using recyclable materials such as plastic bottles of different sizes to visualize the spirit of Christmas. Decorations were located at the engineering building, BSIT building, and MMC building.

 

Philippine Association of Food Technologists – Southern Leyte State University Chapter

PAFT-SLSU organizes a Fundraising Activity, “Alkansya for a Cause”

Philippine Association of Food Technologists-Southern Leyte State University (BSFT-SLSU) students organized a fund raising activity during Intramurals Week on October 22-25, 2019 at Food Court, Student Centre Building, SLSU Main Campus. 

Students use their charm and their entrepreneurial skills through selling products such as special mais con yelo which is a “patok sa tag init” also, peanuts, fresh buko juice papaya, and others. This was the way of the organization to raise funds for their upcoming activities. “Alkansiya for a Cause” was also included during their Fund Raising activity for the organization’s upcoming Outreach and Feeding Program to the neighboring communities.

The Fund Raising activity was successful through the effort of all the students who helped to achieve the goal and the purpose of the said activity.

 

Criminal Justice Students Organization

CJSO-SLSU conducts Outreach Program

The Criminal Justice Students Organization (CJSO) of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) conducted the Outreach Program for Persons Deprived of Liberty on December 23, 2020 at Sogod District Gym, Sogod Southern Leyte.

The Outreach Program was to offer assistance to the Bureau of Jail  Management and Penology (BJMP) - Sogod in administering rehabilitation and to provide hygiene materials which are part of their health program benefits. 

The program for Person’s Deprived of Liberty was participated by the CJSO Officers and the faculty members. 

 

Information and Communication Technology Society

ICTS-SLSU conducts Acquaintance Party 

The Information and Communication Technology Society (ICTS) Organization conducted their free-style themed Acquaintance Party on August 28, 2019 at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology (CCSIT) Lobby, Southern Leyte State University - Main Campus, Sogod, Southern Leyte. 

As tradition dictated, the Organization always holds an annual Acquaintance Party to allow the students, both new and old, to mingle and acquaint themselves with one another. The lobby was full of decorations, balloons, photo-booth, colorful lights with party poppin music.

The activity was attended by the Information and Communication Technology students of SLSU.

 

Supreme Student Council

SSC conducts World’s Teachers Day

The Supreme Student Council (SSC) conducted a program for all teachers in the Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus (SLSU-MC) in lieu of celebrating World Teachers’ Day on October 5, 2019 at the Multi-Purpose Court, SLSU-MC.

The teacher’s day celebrations are meant to acknowledge, thank, appreciate, and honor the amazing work that the teachers do to the institution. In addition to that, it encourages the teaching fraternity to continue to respond to the needs of the students.

The short program started with a Prayer by the SLSU - Glee Club, followed by inspirational messages by 3 selected students from different colleges, flashing of video messages and lastly, a surprise flash mob by SLSU students.

All the efforts and hard work that the teachers invested to bring into the students can never be repaid in mere words.  The program ended with a sweet smile on our teachers' faces and a memorable day to keep that was attended by the SLSU students and teachers.

 

Hospitality and Tourism  Management Leaders Community

HTML.Com conducts Nihongo Fiesta: Promoting Cultural Exchange through Language

The Hospitality and Tourism Management Leaders Community (HTML.Com) conducted the first ever Nihongo fiesta with a theme “Promoting cultural exchange through language” on December 11, 2019 at Southern  Leyte State University - Main Campus (SLSU-MC)

This commendable Nihongo Fiesta event aims to diversify the students to embrace Japanese culture. This is an annual event by The Japan Foundation, Manila which showcases the Japanese language, arts and culture through various activities and events. 

The event was attended by the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) students with the Supreme Student Council (SSC) Officers.

 

The Campus Headliner

CH-SLSU conducts Seminar- Workshop on Campus Journalism

The Campus Headliner of Southern Leyte STate University (CH-SLSU) conducted a seminar-workshop on campus journalism on September 11, 2019 at the Testing Room, USSC Building, SLSU-Main Campus.

Campus journalism is important, for it safeguards the halls and the posts of democracy and provides the student readers a deeper perspective; things that happen under their noses. 

Before the seminar-workshop started, they hosted a mini program which was spearheaded by the publication staff. A few areas of publication were discussed like technical writing tips, cartooning and photojournalism. 

The seminar-workshop was attended by 17 aspiring journalists of SLSU-MC.

 

 

Ingenium Organization

Ingeniums’ Publication

As the official college of engineering publication, ingenium’s purpose  is to cover different events and accomplishments under the said college. They release a monthly newsletter wherein it contains the monthly events that have happened inside the college of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU).

The events of their coverage are: College of Engineering and Technology (CET), Acquaintance Party, CET Brigada Ahensya, CET accreditation, World’s teachers day, SLSU Intramurals, Philippine Institute Civil Engineers - Southern Leyte State University (PICE-SLSU) summit, College of Engineering (COE) and Department of Civil Engineering (DCE) passers parade and recognition program, Pasko sa SLSU COE participation, Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers-Student Unit (PSME-SU)  summit, and CET Christmas Party.

 

Lakas Angkan Youth Fellowship at Southern Leyte State University (LAYF@SLSU)

LAYF@SLSU initiates Intramural LAYFBOOTH

The Lakas Angkan Youth Fellowship at Southern Leyte State University (LAFY@SLSU) Organization initiated a LAYFBOOTH during the Intramurals 2019 at the SLSU-Main Campus. 

The purpose of this booth is to share the gospel or the good news of God to others. The organization also served snacks for free for the students who participated in the LAYFBOOTH.

 

Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines - Student Edition SLSU Main Campus

DCpE Students participates the annual ICpEP National Convention

The Department of Computer Engineering (DCpE) students of Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus (SLSU-MC) participated the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines (ICpEP) National Convention 2019 on November 26-29, 2019 at the CityState Asturias Hotel, South National Highway, Tiniguiban Heights, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. 

This annual convention is a great opportunity for both the faculty and the students to be exposed to the latest practices and trends of the industry, share research outputs, and enhance the student’s competencies. The convention lasted for 4 days. In the said event, there were a lot of inputs in the field of cybersecurity which is beneficial to the people present in the event who are fond of the internet.

The Light

The Light conducts Monthly Organizational Clean-up

The Light Group of Publication  journalists  conducted its organizational cleanup on September 18, 2019 at the Southern Leyte State University - Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO) grounds, in compliance with the campus-wide organization clean-up schedule. 

The journalists together with the Supreme Student Council (SSC) officers cooperatively cleaned the Student Center area in preparation for the upcoming visit of Commision on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag, Chair of Board of Regents of SLSU together with the University President, Prose Ivy Yepes.

Cultural Performing Arts Guild (CPAG) Sundayag spooks Southern Leyte State University - Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO) with Asylum ni Pareng Tomas on November 21 2019 at the SLSU-TO 

The theater group created a hauntingly terrifying set to both entertain the audience and let them feel the vibes of Halloween.

BAHAGHARI Organization

Bahaghari Org. conducts Mr. and Ms. SLSU - TO Sports fest 2019

The Bahaghari Organization handled a big part in Southern Leyte State University - Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO) Intramurals 2019 by organizing and conducting the Mr. & Ms. Sportsfest on October 23, 2019 at SLSU-TO Covered court. 

The screening for the candidates of Mr. & Ms. Sportfest began on September 20, 2019 at the SLSU-TO Library AVR. The purpose of this screening is to prospect qualified candidates and to nurture the talents and skills of everyone who participated in the event. After the selection, the Bahaghari Organization facilitated the pictorial and provided the candidates proper training and coaching for the upcoming pageant. On the day of the event, the Bahaghari assists each of the candidates on their needs from applying make-up to facilitating them to stage. 

The event successfully ended with the joy and happiness of each member of the organization.

 

CFC Youth for Christ Organization - Campus Based

CFC-YFC Campus Based conducts Orientation 2019

The Couples for Christ - Youth for Christ (CFC-YFC)- Campus Based conducted an orientation for those members who are new to the organization on September 9, 2019 at the Southern Leyte State University - Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO) Students Activity Center. 

The purpose of this orientation is to allow the members to know the goals of the CFC-YFC Campus Based for the campus.

The English Circle

The English Circle conducts clean-up activity

The English Circle Organization conducted a clean-up Activity on September18 , 2019 at exactly 8:00 AM in the morning with the following results and benefits for the University.

Cleaning the whole area / surroundings of the presidential cottage which was cleaned by all first year students. The second year student was assigned to clean the area starting from the lower guardhouse including the front area of the Administrative Building. The third year student was assigned to clean the whole area of the new Arts and Letters Building.

Some students took their cleaning activity in the afternoon due to having classes on the same morning of the activity. The fourth year student was not able to do the said clean-up activity because they are in their internship program.

Human Kinetics Society Organization

The HuKiSo Org conducts monthly clean-up

The Human Kinetic Society Organization - Southern Leyte State University - Tomas Oppus (HuKiSo SLSU-TO) conducted their monthly clean up on September 18, 2019 at the SLSU-TO Covered Court. 

The activity started at 8 o’clock in the morning with 46 members including the PEHMayers. After the clean-up, the secretary lists the names and signatures of the members, which serves as the attendance for the activity. At the end, the organization accomplished the clean-up.

Graduate School Student Organization

The GRASSO conducts Aksyon Kontra Covid 19 (A Face Shield Giving Initiative)

The Graduate School Students Organization (GRASSO) decided to lend a helping hand by giving face shields. Face shields are one of the protective equipment out frontline service providers need. 

As part of the school’s mission to transform and improve the quality of life in the communities in the service areas, the organization decisively takes a little step to at least aid our frontliners like the PNP and medical practitioners who are at the forefront in fighting the disease. Their presence in our society is crucial towards combating the spread of this ailment. It is highly significant to safeguard them through the provision of protective equipment.

Kapisanan ng Filipino Organization

The Kapisanan ng Filipino organization conducts Monthly Clean-Up

On September 18, 2019, the Kapisanan ng Filipino - SLSU - TO conducted a monthly clean-up activity at the Southern Leyte State University - Tomas Oppus Campus Grounds. 

This activity aims to help the school maintain its cleanliness by letting the students clean monthly.The activity started at 8'oclock in the morning and was participated by all of the members of the organization. 

Science and Mathematics Society

Science and mathematics Society carry on Monthly Clean-Up

The Science and Mathematics Society organization conducted its monthly clean-up on September 18, 2019 at Southern Leyte State University-Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO) campus wherein the first year was cleaning the front and back of the Arts and Science building together with the organization’s President. 

Some were assigned in the beatification of the front garden, as well as watering the plants. Others were assigned to the backyard of the building wherein they recovered the Botanical Garden. 

The clean up drive starts at 8 o’clock and ends at 11 o’clock in the morning.

Social Science Society

The SSS of SLSU-TO initiates Team Building Activity and Socialization 

The Social Science Society - Southern Leyte State University - Tomas Oppus (SSS - SLSU-TO) officers conducted a team building activity on November 13, 2019 at the shore of San Isidro, Tomas Oppus. 

The goal of the event was to promote leadership, knowledge, proper attitude and skills that can be used not just in the school grounds but also in our everyday lives. 

In addition, the activity served as a socialization party and an opportunity for all the Social Science faculties and students to be acquainted with each other and mingle.

YES organizes Leadership Development Program

The Young Entrepreneur Society - Southern Leyte State University - Tomas Oppus (YES - SLSU-TO) organized the Leadership Development Program on September 11, 2019 at the SLSU-TO Business Administration Building Room 3.

Bontoc Society of Agricultural Technologist

The  Agricultural department holds Fundamental Cattle Feeding Symposium in coordination with Bontoc Society of Agricultural Technologist

The agricultural department in coordination with Bontoc society of agricultural technologists held a symposium about the fundamentals of Cattle feeding on September 18,2019 at Southern Leyte State University - Bontoc Campus (SLSU-BC)grounds. 

The aim for this symposium is to give the students knowledge in the basic cattle feeding procedures.The resource speaker was Mr. Arnel Corpuz, COO, Adelaide River Farm and a “Bagong Bayani” awardee, who shared his knowledge of cattle feeding to the students and instructor present at that time. He also inspires the students and also the instructor to strive hard and aim high.

 The event was indeed a success. It ended with the giving of a certificate of appreciation and a token to the resource speaker.

SLSU Fisheries Society

Southern Leyte State University Fisheries Society participates in the 51st Annual Convention of Federation of Institution for Marine and Freshwater Sciences

The Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus (SLSU-Main Campus)  hosted the annual convention of Federation of Institution for Marine and Freshwater Sciences (FIMFS)on October 16,2019 to October 19,2019 at SLSU-Main Campus’ Multipurpose Court (MPC) with the theme “Finding Ways Together for Sustainable Aquatic Ecosystems” . 

Bontoc Information Technology Society

Bontoc Information Society Participates in the ASEAN DAY 2019

The Bontoc Information Technology Society (BITS) participated in the Annual ASEAN day celebration of SLSU-Bontoc campus on August 28,2019 at SLSU-Bontoc Campus Multipurpose Covered Court (MPCC).

 The program started at 1 pm wherein all the students wore an ASEAN costume that will represent the ASEAN countries. After Showcasing their costumes, Mr. Saturnino explained that ASEAN is an intergovernmental organization aimed primarily at promoting economic growth and regional stability among its members. Dr. Baclayon further discussed the objectives of ASEAN which gives the listener greater understanding of the organization.

 The program ended with an inspirational message which tells us that we should have the spirit of an ASEAN who are proud of where they are from and where they belong. 

Supreme Students Council- SLSU Bontoc Campus

The Supreme Student Council-SLSU Bontoc Campus spearheaded its  annual Intramurals

The Supreme Student Council (SSC) of Southern Leyte state university - Bontoc Campus (SLSU-BC) conducted a two-days-long Intramurals on September 26-27, 2019 at SLSU-BC Grounds.

 The event started with an opening remarks, followed by the traditional way of lighting the torch. After the torch lighting ceremony is the parade. The two-days-long event is a competition of recreational activities and sports which was competed  by two teams namely; TechnoMarine Daggers and Blue Titans. At the end of the event the Blue Titans won the overall championship despite the shortcomings and gossip heard.

 

Supreme Student Council- San Juan Campus

The Supreme Council conducts Parent’s General Assembly

The Supreme Student Council (SSC) conducted a parents’ general assembly meeting on August 28, 2019 at Southern Leyte State University-San Juan  (SLSU-SJ) Covered Court.

The activity started with an opening prayer, followed by the national anthem and SLSU Hymn. Parent involvement is often considered a pathway through which schools enhance the achievement of underperforming children. Consequently, parent involvement is encouraged by teachers, childcare providers, policy makers, parents, and researchers. Moreover, parent involvement is a key component of early childhood education programs, such as Head Start. 

 

College of Business Management - Student Organization

The College of Business Management conducts Freshmen Assembly

The College of Business Management student organization conducted its New Student Organization in 2019 at Southern Leyte State University- San Juan(SLSU-SJ) Covered Court.

Orientation is a much needed program in one institution. This event usually happens at the beginning of the school year. It gives new students a chance to learn more about Southern Leyte State University-College of Business and Management. It's Key Officials,faculty, staff, administrations, resources, programs and activities.

It provides learning experiences that help students understand and make adaptations to change. Cultivate an inclusive environment that celebrates the diversity of the institution. Encourage the new student to explore the history, traditions, and values of the campus community.

Communication Arts Club

Communication Arts Club Celebrates English Month

The Communication arts club conducted a culmination for the english month celebration on November 29, 2021 with the theme:” Living, Loving and Learning English with the Family amid Uncertainties” through Organizations’ Facebook Page.

As we face the uncertainties brought by the pandemic, the importance of learning through the English Language is very essential in adapting to the needs of the people. Anything can be achieved now through our digitally inclined educational system, advanced technology and support from our families

 

Gender and Development (GAD)

SLSU- San Juan promotes for a Violence Against Women (VAW) free Community

As part of the activities for the 18-Day Campaign to end VAW, Southern Leyte State University-San Juan (SLSU-SJ) joined the move to create a VAW Free community by signifying the commitment of the Institution to the End VAW campaign by wearing the "VAW Free Community Starts with ME" pins and masks at the SLSU-SJ. 

This allows the University to show as an academic institution, and the individual within, will strive to end VAW and promote safe places to and for ALL.

The GAD office also gave out brochures about the "Safe Spaces Act" and posted posters with tangible visual messages as part of the campaign to create awareness relating to safe spaces as part of our  fight in making the campus a safe space for ALL!

And SLSU-SJ faculty and staff also joined the University wide webinar on the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313) to further widen our knowledge about the law.

Society of Information Technology Students - SLSU Hinunangan

The Society of Information Technology Students of Southern Leyte State University Hinunangan Campus conducts SITS Team Building

The Society of Information Technology Students - SLSU Hinunangan conducted a Team Building on March 28, 2019 at Parientes, Hinunangan. 

The purpose of this event is to strengthen the relationship of each member towards each other. The Team Building Event was held.

Organization of Agriculture Technology Students  - SLSU Hinunangan

Organization of Agriculture Technology Students leads a Tree Planting Activity

The Organization of Agriculture Technology Students(OATS)led a Tree Planting Activity on June 25,2019 at Tahusan at the shorelines of  Tahusan, Hinunangan Southern Leyte. This Activity is in line with the observance of  Environmental Awareness Month.

The beach forest of Brgy. Tahusan has dramatically decreased due to the increase of beach tourist attractions. Despite being overlooked due to its lack of economical significance, these beach forests carry a significant role in protecting the living  organisms in the area and protecting the citizens from storm waves from the sea.

Hence, OATS conducted a tree planting activity in hopes to restore and conserve  these beach forests in the areas of Brgy. Tahusan. This activity is in collaboration with Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) San Juan, LGU hinunangan, BLGU Tahusan and SLSU- HC students.  

As for sustaining the said tree planting, CENRO will craft a Memorandum of Agreement between the involved agencies and organization for the nursing and maintenance of the planted trees.

 

Organization of Agriculture Technology Students 

OATS seeks helps for donations for Agriculture Building

Organization of Agriculture Technology Students (OATS) of Southern Leyte State University-Hinunangan Campus (SLSU-HC) on June 18, 2019 through Organizations’ Facebook Page.

The OATS are sourcing out funds and donations such as Ecobricks, Sand, Gravel, Soil, Ornamental Plants, Cement and monetary. to the SLSU-HC students, faculties, and staff for the backfilling of the Agriculture Building Grounds so that the organization can landscape the area and finally utilize the ECO BRICKS  submitted by CAFESIAN Students.

The Green Paradise 

TGP publish the participation of SLSU-HC student in Fire and Earthquake Drill

The Green Paradise published the Southern Leyte State University-Hinunangan Campus (SLSU-HC) Earthquake Drill on November 15, 2019 at Multi Academic Building, SLSU-HC.

The drill were spearheaded by the Bureau of Fire Protection, FO1 Juniel Zshornak, FO1 Jano Nero Gahum, and FO1 Regielle Erika Marin.

The speakers shared their expertise regarding fire prevention. FO1 Marin discussed the elements of fire and its  classifications, while FO1 Zhornak imparted the proper ways to do so and how to put down when fire occurs.

An application of the learnings pertaining to fire prevention was conducted at the school plaza where students were gathered to participate in the activity.

Afterwards, students were categorized per department for the last activity- earthquake drill.

The Guild of Aspiring Mathematics and Emulous Students (GAMES) of Southern Leyte State University-Hinunangan Campus (SLSU-HC) initiated its Team Building on March 21, 2019 at Parientes Water Sports and Recreation, Talisay, Hinunangan, Southern Leyte.

Due to its importance, the SLSU includes “Unity in Diversity” as one of the core values for the institution to work together in harmony. In line with this, the GAMES aspire to have a Team Building activity that helps the members of the organization develop unity and break whatever gaps they have. Furthermore, the activity helps in creating bond and solidarity among group members.

The one-day Team building activity involved 50 students and 4 teachers in SLSU-HC.

SSFR conducts SLSU-CAFES Summer Camp 2019 

The Supreme Student Federal Republic (SSR) conducted a Southern Leyte State University-College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (SLSU-CAFES) Summer Camp on April 28-May 1, 2019.

SLSU-CAFES Summer Camp 2019 is a Re-echo activity from the Youth LeadPhilippines (YLP) 6th Philippines Transformative Approaches to Innovative Leadership Trail Summer Camp and Philippines/ Transform Young Leaders Convention last April And September 2018 represented by SLSU-CAFES Summer Camp 2019 active student leaders.

Supreme Student Council - Maasin City Campus

SSC conducts Campus Student Orientation

The Southern Leyte State University - Maasin City Campus in coordination with the Supreme Student Council conducted a Campus Student Orientation on September 15, 2021 at exactly 01:30 PM via Zoom Application.

This is to formally welcome all students to the new academic year of SLSU-MCC, and to be familiarized in the university and campus’ support and services.

The activity was participated by all of the students of the SLSU-MCC.

Circle of Public Administration Students

CPAS conducts Symposium on Good Governance, Career Orientation

The Circle of Public Administration Students (CPAS) of Southern Leyte State University-Maasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC) conducted a Symposium on Good Governance and Career Orientation on November 20, 2019 at the SLSU-MCC Audio Visual Room.

The activity is deemed expected to leverage understanding on career issues in the workplace and promoting good governance in the organization. Furthermore, this seminar will invigorate deeper understanding on the significance of preserving and strengthening Public Administration student's confidence, equipping them with the capacity to respond to a changing external environment, and providing the foundation for a high performance in the organization.

Junior Social Workers Association of the Philippines (JSWAP)

SLSU-MCC conducts Strengthening and Upholding Family Relationships during Crisis, Webinar in coordination with the JSWAP

The Southern Leyte State University-Maasin City Campus (MCC) in coordination with the Junior Social Workers Association of the Philippines (JSWAP) Organization conducted a “Strengthening and Upholding Family Relationships during Crisis” webinar on November 9, 2020 through the Google Meet Application.

The SLSU-MCC taught the students about proper netiquette when conducting and participating in a webinar. Since the world is experiencing this pandemic, the webinar topics are mostly about mental health and how to cope up with mental health issues that are prevalent during these trying times.

SLSU - Main Campus Environmentally Conscious Organization (ECO CLUB)

ECO Club publish “Environmental Projects in My Community”

The members of the Southern Leyte State University-Main Campus (SLSU-MC) Environmentally Conscious Organization Club (ECO CLUB)  published their various projects on how they were able to help their respective communities through environmental-friendly activities and projects in the midst of the global pandemic. 

One ECO-warrior narrated that during the pandemic, she preoccupied herself by making Do-it-yourself (D.I.Y.) pots made of cement and cloth. She also shared that she uses natural fertilizers from fermented peels. 

Another member also shared that her entire community engrossed themselves in responsible breeding and fishing. 

Lastly, another member also said that during the pandemic, he found his outlet in creating art which is useful, decorative, and profitable by recycling wastes.
