SLSU-Hinunangan Launches Centralized Call Training, Pioneers First SIP Number in Province

Southern Leyte State University – Hinunangan Campus (SLSU-HC) took a major step toward enhancing campus-wide communication with the conduct of its Digital Literacy Training: Empowering Communication Through Centralized Call Technology on August 7, 2025 at the Multi-Purpose Academic Building (MAB).
The training, spearheaded by the Campus Information and System Analytics (CISA) unit under the leadership of Mr. Jonathan L. Pasayan, introduced an innovative Centralized Call Technology initially designed for the SLSU-Hinunangan Campus, with the goal of eventually being adopted across other SLSU campuses. The system enables faculty, staff, and student leaders to directly connect with one another, as well as with essential emergency services such as the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and local rescue units—all without the need for costly internet subscriptions. This development marks a significant step toward more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective communication within the university community.
The event gathered both technical experts and academic stakeholders. Engr. Sajid N. Macabalang delivered an inspirational message, emphasizing the importance of digital readiness in higher education. Mr. Marlon M. Bariuad, Chief Security Officer and Data Protection Officer, followed with an in-depth discussion on the purpose, security features, and advantages of the Centralized Call Management System, highlighting its role in streamlining internal communication and ensuring data protection.
The highlight of the training featured hands-on exercises led by Mr. Pasayan, covering the installation, activation, and navigation of relevant communication applications. Participants—comprising faculty members, administrative staff, and students—gained practical skills that will enable them to use the system effectively in their day-to-day academic and administrative tasks.
