SLSU-Hinunangan Empowers Faculty Through Impact Assessment Training

The Office of Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (RIES) at Southern Leyte State University – Hinunangan Campus (SLSU-HC) conducted a comprehensive training session on impact assessment and evaluation of research-based extension programs. The event engaged 27 faculty members from various programs, aiming to enhance their capacity in designing, implementing, and assessing the effectiveness of extension programs rooted in research.

Prof. Rhoderick D. Malangsa, a seasoned expert in impact evaluation, led the session. His insights provided participants with a deeper understanding of various evaluation models and their practical applications in extension programs.

This training is a significant step towards fostering a culture of evidence-based practice within SLSU. By empowering faculty members with the tools and knowledge to assess the impact of their extension programs, the university ensures that its initiatives are both practical and responsive to the community's needs.

Moreover, the ability to evaluate program outcomes facilitates accountability and transparency, which are crucial for securing future funding and support.

Prof. Ian A. Navarrete, RIES Head, synthesized the activity as he shared his insights from his statement: "This extension activity is not just only a target-based activity that we need to accomplish, but it should be done in a meaningful and impactful way for the stakeholders."

In conclusion, the training on impact assessment and evaluation marks a pivotal moment in SLSU's commitment to excellence in research and community engagement. By prioritizing evidence-based outcomes, the university not only enhances the effectiveness of its extension programs but also contributes to the broader goal of sustainable community development.
