SLSU _ MCC Student Leaders Join "One Man, One Tree Can Make a Forest" Tree Planting Initiative

On November 29, 2024, the Supreme Student Council (SSC) of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) -Maasin City Campus, along with student leaders from the College of Maasin, Saint Joseph College, and STI, demonstrated their commitment to environmental sustainability by participating in a tree planting activity organized by former Congressman Atty. Oging Mercado. The event was held along the newly constructed road connecting Barangay Hantag to Barangay Laboon in Maasin City, this event was part of Atty. Mercado's "One Man, One Tree Can Make a Forest" advocacy.

The student leaders, who gathered at the Maasin City Hall lobby at 4:00 AM, showed their dedication to the cause by braving the early morning hours to participate in the planting. Sir Gelo Salubre and Atty. Vincent Abril Uy Rodas supervised the event, ensuring a smooth and organized planting process.

This initiative highlights the crucial role of student leaders in promoting environmental awareness and action. Planting trees is essential for combating climate change, reducing deforestation, and preserving biodiversity. By participating in this activity, the student leaders contribute to a greener environment and inspire their peers and the community to embrace sustainable practices.
