SLSU, UNISDA collabs for COIL Program: Global Operations and Strategy Practice

On April 8, 2026 , the Faculty of Business and Management of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) - San Juan Campus in partnership with the Faculty of Economics of Universitas Islam Darul ‘Ulum (UNISDA) – Lamongan, successfully launched the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program titled “Global Operations and Strategy in Practice” in a dynamic and engaging opening ceremony. The event brought together faculty members, students, and academic leaders from both institutions, marking a significant step toward strengthening internationalization efforts and fostering meaningful global collaboration. 

The ceremony featured inspiring welcome remarks from Dr. Ingrid M. Uy, Director for External Linkages and International Affairs, followed by a message from UNISDA delivered by Dr. Novi Darmayanti, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, highlighting the importance of cross-border academic partnerships. A comprehensive overview of the COIL program and its mechanics was presented by Dr. Gwendolyn C. Tatoy, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management (SLSU) setting clear expectations for participants as they embark on this collaborative journey. Faculty and student participants from both SLSU and UNISDA were formally introduced by Dr. Catherine M. Garcia, Head – Business and Management Department (SLSU)  and Ms. Siti Shoimah, S. AB, M.AB, Head Career Development and Entrepreneurship Center – UNISDA,  respectively, paving the way for meaningful interaction and cooperation. 

To deepen engagement, participants joined breakout sessions facilitated by Ms. Louremel Marie L. Muncada, Ms. Cionelyn De Jose, and Engr. Jules Derek Yu, where discussions on strategic and operations management began to take shape in a global context. The program concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Mylyn C. Agapay, Head – Accountancy Department, leaving participants inspired and ready to collaborate. Anchored on innovation, cultural exchange, and academic excellence, this COIL initiative sets the stage for transformative learning experiences that transcend borders and prepare students for the demands of a globalized world.
