SLSU-San Juan Campus Conducts Writeshop Series on Bibliometric and Systematic Review Paper Writing

Southern Leyte State University–San Juan Campus, through its Research and Innovation Office, strengthened its commitment to research productivity and scholarly excellence through the conduct of “Writing Bibliometric and Systematic Review Paper: A Writeshop Series (Batch V),” which started on February 25, 2026 and will run every Wednesday until March 25, 2026 at the RIES Training Hall. The activity is specifically organized for faculty and staff researchers, aiming to equip them with essential knowledge and technical skills in writing high-quality bibliometric and systematic review papers, under the guidance of Dr. Melvin S. Sarsale, Head of the Research, Innovation, and Extension Services Office.

The writeshop provides a structured venue for participants to systematically develop, refine, and complete review manuscripts aligned with current research priorities and international publication standards. It addresses common research challenges, including narrowing feasible topics, crafting research questions, designing defensible search strategies, applying transparent screening procedures, synthesizing findings coherently, and presenting results according to accepted reporting standards. Participants engage in guided lectures, software demonstrations, hands-on writing sessions, and mentoring, applying the PRISMA framework and bibliometric tools such as VOSviewer and Biblioshiny/Bibliometrix to support literature mapping, data extraction, visualization, and synthesis.

Through this ongoing series, the campus has successfully published eight papers in Scopus-indexed and Web of Science journals, while six review manuscripts are currently in progress awaiting publication, demonstrating the tangible impact of the training on research output. The writeshop reflects SLSU’s continued efforts to foster a research-oriented culture characterized by collaboration, mentorship, and continuous improvement in scholarly writing. By empowering faculty and staff to produce evidence-based, publication-ready outputs, the university advances its mission of generating knowledge that informs instruction, policy, and community engagement.

This event aligns with Sustainable Development Goal: No. 4 (Quality Education) No. 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) No. 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and No.17 (Partnership for the Goals).
