SLSU IPTBM, ITSO lead IP Policy, TBI Manual, and Technology Transfer Protocol Writeshop

Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), through its Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IPTBM) Office and Innovation & Technology Support Office (ITSO) under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (RIES), conducted a writeshop on September 11–12, 2025, to revise three key institutional documents: Intellectual Property (IP) Policy, Technology Business Incubator (TBI) Operations Manual, and Technology Transfer Protocol.

The writeshop focuses on SLSU’s drive to institutionalize policies that would advance innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven solutions. By refining its IP, TBI, and TTPs, the University addresses the goals of SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, wherein SLSU builds stronger mechanisms to translate research into practical applications that can benefit communities, industries, and the broader economy.

It is also part of SLSU’s ongoing steps to strengthen the innovation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship development in line with national policies and global best practices supporting SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.

The group is set to reconvene at later dates for the finalization of the revised documents, marking another milestone in the University’s innovation agenda.

The event was graced by the presence and support of Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice President for RIES; Dr. Melvin S. Sarsale, Project Leader of Project 4–SLSU IPTBM; Engr. Jonelle H. Tablada, Director of the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office; Engr. Khorina O. Aguilar, Director for Research and Innovation, and Ms. Rio Katrina C. Avila, Head, ITSO.
