SLSU–TO Filipino Education Program Conducts Monitoring and Evaluation of Project WikanTALK

Southern Leyte State University-Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO) Filipino Education program conducted a monitoring and evaluation session of Project WikanTALK on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, bringing together Filipino teachers from the Department of Education (DepEd) Southern Leyte Division. Organized by the Office of Research, Innovation, and Extension Services, the session was held via Google Meet and was led by Dr. Mark B. Galdo, Project Leader of Wikantalk and head of the RIES office, along with University Monitoring and Evaluation Head Ms. Adelfa Diola.

Before the formal discussion, participants were instructed to complete a Monitoring and Evaluation Survey through a Google Form. To maintain order during the session, Diola arranged breakout rooms for the teachers. As the meeting progressed, several challenges were reported. Some participants cited demanding schedules, while others experienced unstable internet connectivity and other unforeseen concerns.

In response, Diola recommended that participants focus on completing the survey instead of proceeding with individual interviews. She noted that the teachers’ performance in the project was “so far, so good,” indicating that no major issues had been identified. Diola also requested an extension of the survey deadline after some participants were unable to access the form immediately upon joining the meeting. Dr. Galdo approved the request, granting additional time for submission. The monitoring session concluded at around 10:40 a.m., with participants exiting the virtual meeting room afterward. This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening teacher development and educational programs.
