Southern Leyte State University–Tomas Oppus (SLSU–TO) honored its successful graduates in the 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) during a recognition program held on February 4, 2026, at the SLSU–TO Covered Court. Before the start of the honoring ceremony, a Holy Mass was celebrated, followed by a motorcade of the LEPT passers from Malitbog to Bontoc. The honoring ceremony formally acknowledged LET passers from the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd), Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd), and Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) programs who passed the March and September 2025 licensure examinations. The university officials present were Dr. Constantino G. Medilo, Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Marie Khul Langub, Vice President for Student Engagement and Support Services. SLSU–TO campus officials, faculty members, students, and guests attended the ceremony.

Dr. Norlyn L. Borong, Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Education, delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the institution’s sustained efforts in strengthening teacher preparation. Dr. Clemente H. Cobilla, Campus Director, expressed appreciation to the passers and commended the faculty for their guidance and commitment to academic excellence. The recognition of LET passers served as the highlight of the program, followed by a message from Dr. Constantino G. Medilo, Jr., VPAA, who emphasized the vital role of educators in nation-building and social development. A special recognition was conferred on Mr. Joshua E. Orais, who ranked in the top 10 in the 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers. In his message, he shared insights from his journey and encouraged future examinees to remain disciplined and committed to their goals.

Dr. Marie Khul Langub, VPSES, congratulated the LEPT passers and encouraged them to be agents of change in society, especially in addressing ongoing issues of corruption. Change, she emphasized, should be reflected not only in concepts but also in actions. Representatives from each program also conveyed messages of gratitude on behalf of the successful examinees. The program concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Norla Grace A. Betarmos, Program Chair for Elementary Education.

The recognition program highlighted SLSU–Tomas Oppus Campus’ commitment to academic excellence and teacher education and supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), by recognizing excellence in teacher education and strengthening the preparation of competent educators for inclusive and lifelong learning.
