SLSU-TO GRASSO Marks Second Semester 2026 with Kick-Off Program

The Graduate School Students Organization (GRASSO) officially opened the second semester of Academic Year 2025–2026 through its 2nd Semester Kick-Off 2026 held on January 17, 2026, at the Southern Leyte State University–Tomas Oppus Campus. The activity, organized by GRASSO officers, gathered graduate students, faculty members, and organization leaders to provide orientation on organizational directions, present the GRASSO Constitution and By-Laws, and strengthen student engagement at the start of the semester.

GRASSO President Kimberly D. Gonzales welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of unity, responsible leadership, and active involvement of graduate students in academic and organizational initiatives. One of the key highlights of the program was the formal turnover of air-conditioning units donated by GRASSO, aimed at improving campus facilities and promoting a more conducive learning environment for graduate students. The six (6) units were specifically donated to support the following Graduate School programs: Educational Management, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Social Science Education, English Education, and Filipino Education.

The program also featured the presentation and discussion of the GRASSO Constitution and By-Laws, led by Mary Angelie C. Abiera, GRASSO Secretary. The discussion was followed by an open forum that allowed students to raise concerns, clarify policies, and participate in organizational discourse.

The kick-off concluded with a token of appreciation, photo opportunities, and socialization activities that encouraged interaction and camaraderie among participants. The successful conduct of the activity reflected strong participation and support from the graduate student body and faculty members, reinforcing GRASSO’s role in advancing student welfare, transparency, and leadership development. This supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by promoting inclusive learning environments and collaborative student leadership.
