SLSU-TO GRASSO Officers Forge Stronger Bonds in Team Building Activity

The Graduate Students Society (GRASSO) of Southern Leyte State University–Tomas Oppus Campus conducted its Team Building Activity with the theme “Building Bridges: Officers Connect and Create” on October 25–26, 2025, at Kuting Reef Resort, Macrohon, Southern Leyte. The two-day event aimed to strengthen camaraderie, communication, and leadership among GRASSO officers while ensuring a smooth transition of leadership for the upcoming academic year.

Dr. Lilibeth S. Tindugan, Program Head of Educational Management and GRASSO Adviser, formally opened the program with remarks emphasizing the importance of purposeful leadership and collaboration. She was followed by Dr. Pritzel Lee G. Capili, Head of the Student Affairs and Services (SAS) Office, who delivered an inspiring message encouraging officers to lead with integrity and a shared vision. Outgoing Vice President Ma. Lourdes G. Tindoy discussed the revised Constitution and By-Laws, while Outgoing President Ros Marie C. Mecate highlighted GRASSO’s achievements and planned initiatives for School Year 2024–2025. The day concluded with a fellowship dinner that allowed participants to connect and engage in informal conversations.

The second day began with a team exercise facilitated by Mr. Ariel O. Nopal, outgoing EdD Representative, which promoted teamwork and problem-solving. Incoming President Kimberly D. Gonzales then led the planning session for the organization’s upcoming initiatives for School Year 2025–2026. Adding inspiration to the session, Dr. Dana D. Lim, Program Head of Science Education and GRASSO Adviser, delivered her message titled “An Ode to Commitment,” emphasizing dedication and unity in service. The event concluded with impressions from the incoming officers, closing remarks by Ms. Jocelyn M. Dumape, Incoming Vice President, and a lunch get-together.

According to participants, the activity successfully achieved its goals of reinforcing teamwork, fostering openness, and building stronger interpersonal relationships among officers and advisers. Among the key outputs of the activity were the reaffirmation of the GRASSO Constitution and By-Laws, presentation of key accomplishments for SY 2024–2025, and the drafting of initial goals and plans for SY 2025–2026. The organizers recommended continuing the annual team-building activity, incorporating more interactive leadership exercises, and ensuring consistent documentation and follow-up on planned initiatives to sustain organizational unity and growth.

The event also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, by promoting lifelong learning, leadership development, and inclusive participation among graduate students.
