SLSU-TO Mathematics Education Advances Quality Education Through Action Research Forum

Southern Leyte State University – Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO) Mathematics Education successfully held its Action Research Forum, themed “Exploring Xcellent Pedagogical Learning Outcomes Through Reflective Education (EXPLORE)” on September 24, 2025. The forum, conducted at the SLSU-TO Audio-Visual Room, was attended by Mathematics Education faculty, a DepEd key official, alumni, undergraduate students, and MAEd students for a morning of scholarly exchange and professional development.

Dr. Dana D. Lim, Thesis Adviser, delivered a warm welcome address to the participants, emphasizing the importance of reflective practices in enhancing mathematics teaching and learning outcomes. The keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Roel Tugas, EPS for Mathematics at DepEd Maasin City, who shared insights on innovative strategies for improving pedagogical outcomes through reflective teaching practices.
Following this, during the paper presentation, Dr. Caraquil guided student participants through the presentation mechanics and structure, ensuring a smooth and organized forum. After the presentations, certificates were awarded to the keynote speaker, participants, and winners.

The SLSU-TO Mathematics Education program provided a platform for educators, researchers, and students to exchange ideas, reflect on teaching practices, and explore innovative approaches aimed at fostering excellence in mathematics education. The forum also highlighted the program’s commitment to Quality Education, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), ensuring inclusive and equitable education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
