SLSU-TO Holds 3rd Quarter In-House RIES Review and Evaluation

Southern Leyte State University – Tomas Oppus Campus conducted its In-House Research, Innovation, and Extension Services Review and Evaluation on September 24, 2025. The activity, held at the RIES Conference Room (Research) and the Training Center (Extension), gathered faculty researchers and extensionists to present their scholarly works, proposals, and project reports.
The event opened with presentations of research proposals highlighting diverse themes in education, language, science, and mathematics. Presentations also included studies on oral narratives, pop culture approaches in education, and explorations of literary works. In the afternoon, completed papers were presented, featuring timely research on the use of e-wallets in rural communities, bibliometric analyses of instructional research trends, and advanced mathematical studies. Simultaneously, the Extension Services presentations showcased proposals and reports designed to address local community needs. Projects such as Lend a Hand, Mentor a Friend 3.0, PAGDUMALA, HASIK-Saliksik, and Project CHAMP emphasized mentorship, research dissemination, and community empowerment. Progress and terminal reports, including Project TASK, SAYAWKA 3.0, and Operation Anti-VAWC, reflected the campus’s strong commitment to cultural preservation, heritage promotion, and advocacy against violence.
These proposals, outputs, and projects are also aligned with I Care to Teach, the Campus-Based RIES Program of SLSU-TO, ensuring that research and extension initiatives are rooted in the campus’s guiding framework for innovation, education, and community engagement.
The one-day event provided a platform for faculty members to share insights, receive feedback, and strengthen collaboration in advancing research and extension initiatives. This initiative also contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting quality education, innovation, and community development.
