SLSU-TO LHS Sweeps IAD Radio Broadcasting Contest

Young broadcasters from Southern Leyte State University – Tomas Oppus Laboratory High School (SLSU-TO LHS) clinched a double victory at the Integrated Area of Development (IAD) Radio Broadcasting contest, bagging first place in both the Filipino and English categories on September 9, 2025, at San Isidro National High School, Tomas Oppus.

Competing against contingents from Malitbog and Limasawa, the LHS teams showcased their broadcasting prowess, marking a proud moment for the school community. The competition not only highlighted the students’ technical and creative talents but also served as a training ground that provided them with real-world broadcasting experience beyond the classroom.

SLSU-TO LHS also brought home several special awards, further solidifying their dominance in the contest:

  • Frances Castielle T. Gorduiz – Best Female Anchor (Filipino)
  • Brylle M. Ampong – Best Male News Reporter (Filipino)
  • Vien Triexe B. Gamohay – Best Technical Applicator (Filipino)
  • Rob Edward Angelo C. Orais – Best Male Anchor (English)
  • LHS Filipino Radio Broadcasting Team – Best Infomercial
  • LHS English Radio Broadcasting Team – Best Script

The double triumph stands as an embodiment to the students’ perseverance and passion as well as the unwavering support of their coaches and school administrators. This achievement reflects SDG 4: Quality Education, as it highlights the role of schools in nurturing skills, discipline, and excellence among the youth.
