SLSU - TOMAS OPPUS KICKSTARTS OPENING OF CLASSES FOR AY 2023-2024 WITH FLAG RAISING CEREMONY

The Southern Leyte State University - Tomas Oppus Campus conducted a Flag-Raising Ceremony on August 14, 2023, at 8:00 a.m., which was attended by all students, campus key officials, faculty, and staff, marking the official start of the new academic year, 2023-2024.

The ceremony was the first campus activity lined up for the first day of classes, including the SAS Services Orientation from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the Academic Orientation and Teambuilding Activities for Student Organizations from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to welcome all students and employees officially. After the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, Awit ng Serbisyo Sibil, ASEAN Hymn, and SLSU Hymn, followed by the recitation of the SLSU Vision, Mission, and Quality Policy, Dr. Clemente H. Cobilla, College Dean, shared his food for thought, highlighting kindness and selfless service. Dr. Constantino G. Medilo Jr., Campus Director, ended the ceremony by formally welcoming all students and employees and thanking everyone for participating in the activity.

The ceremony was facilitated by the Human Resource Management and Development Office per Section 18 of RA No. 8491, otherwise known as the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines, wherein all government offices and educational institutions are required to participate in the Observance/Conduct of Flag Raising Ceremonies every Monday morning and Flag Lowering Ceremonies every Friday afternoon.
