SLSU Bontoc Takes Part in Provincewide Garden Show 2025

In line with its commitment to community engagement and agricultural development, the Southern Leyte State University - Bontoc Campus (SLSU-BC) affirms its participation in the province-wide celebration of Southern Leyte’s 65th Founding Anniversary.

Spearheaded by the Provincial Agricultural Services Office (PAgSO), the annual Agri-Aqua Fair and Garden Show will carry the theme “65 Years of Nurturing the Land and Seas, Celebrating Milestones for Growing Communities.” The event highlights the contributions of local stakeholders in advancing sustainable agriculture and aquaculture practices across the province.

SLSU Bontoc, through the participation of Mr. Erwin P. Remojo, Administrative Officer V, and Mr. Carlo M. Cabillo, Ph.D., Assistant Professor I, took part in the Garden Show 2025 by serving as judges for the Best Garden and Best Plants categories, respectively—one of the key highlights of the Agri-Aqua Fair, set to run from June 16 to July 2, 2025.

The exhibit showcased a diverse array of ornamental and flowering plants cultivated by local gardeners from across the province, aiming to highlight and promote creativity, artistry, and uniqueness in gardening.

Mr. Remojo noted that the event successfully gathered florists and plant enthusiasts from various parts of the province, making it a meaningful celebration of both Southern Leyte’s natural resources and the creative talents of its people.

“It was such an overwhelming event, especially with 19 entries showcasing a wide range of ornamental and flowering plants,” said Mr. Remojo. “What struck me the most was not just the diversity of plant species we have in Southern Leyte, but also the passion and creativity of our local gardeners.” Remojo added.

The participation of SLSU Bontoc in the Garden Show 2025 not only showcased the university’s support for local agricultural initiatives but also provided valuable insights and inspiration for enhancing the campus landscape.

This initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 15: Life on Land.
