SLSU-Bontoc Student and Faculty participates the 10th YouthLead Philippines Convention

The incoming Supreme Student Council (SSC) President Ms Chellu Espina, a 4th year Bachelor of Agricultural Technology student, and Faculty member, Dr. Peter June D. Dadios (Head, Students and Auxiliary Services) of SLSU-Bontoc were among the participants of the 10th Philippines I Transform Young Leaders Convention (PITYLC). Student leaders from SLSU Main, Tomas Oppus and Hinunangan campus with their respective advisers also participated the convention hosted by the University of Baguio. This transformative event was held last August 17 to 22, 2023, at the picturesque Baguio Teacher’s Camp, straighten out under the theme “A Decade of Action: Championing Sustainable Communities”.

A series of plenary sessions tackling various topics were in placed to share best practices and innovations on the ground that impact efforts to meet sustainable development goal (SDG) targets, specifically in making communities sustainable.

Ms. Chellu Espina also joined the On-the-spot essay-writing contest together with the other participants from different regions of the country. The convention concluded with the awarding of certificates to both participants and winners of various convention contests.

The convention, designed to cater student government/campus organizations, community youth groups, SK and local youth development councils, National Service Training Program units and adult leaders, is aimed to empower both young and adult leaders, nurturing collaborations, and promote advocacy towards the realization of the United Nations sustainable Development Goals (SGDs).

Moreover, PITYLC’s goal is to raise awareness, interest; and action and to mold Filipino leaders to become development catalysts, community champions, social innovators and transformational leaders. I Transform campaign as a brainchild of Youthlead Philippines is organized as a platform to develop youth leaders who will make a difference in their communities, foster unity among young leaders, and serves as conduit in experimenting new ideas and new solutions to achieve better quality of life.
