BS Civil Engineering Conducts Community Outreach Activity in Brgy. Talisay, Bontoc,Southern Leyte

In celebration of Civil Engineering Month, the BS Civil Engineering program—through the Environmental Engineering students and faculty members—conducted a community outreach activity on November 26, 2025, at Barangay Talisay, Bontoc, Southern Leyte, in coordination with the barangay officials. A total of 56 participants joined the initiative, which featured a hands-on mangrove planting along the barangay’s coastal zone. The team planted Miyapi (Avicennia officinalis), a native mangrove species selected for its strong root system, shoreline protection benefits, and important role in enhancing local biodiversity.

The activity supports SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by promoting community-led environmental action and strengthening coastal resilience. Through this effort, the BSCE Department reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship and meaningful community engagement.
