VMCJPI Opens Research Cup 2026: The Scopus Challenge for Global Impact

The Visayas-Mindanao Consortium for Journal Publications, Inc. (VMCJPI) officially commences the VMCJPI Research Cup 2026: The Scopus Challenge for Global Impact (A Bibliometric Competition) on June 26, 2026, launching the event virtually via Zoom. 

The program formally opens with welcome remarks from Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, TWG Chair of VMCJPI and Vice-President for Research, Innovation, Publication, and Extension (RIPE) of Southern Leyte State University. In her message, she welcomes the participants and underscores the importance of strengthening research collaboration and advancing scholarly productivity among member institutions.

Dr. Jude A. Duarte, Chair of the Board of Directors of VMCJPI and President of Southern Leyte State University, delivers an inspiring message emphasizing that research is not merely about increasing publications, improving rankings, or accumulating citations. Rather, he notes, research must address local concerns while contributing to global conversations, creating wider audiences, and generating meaningful change.

The activity also features a lecture by Dr. Melvin Sarsale, Head of Research, Innovation, Publication, and Extension of Southern Leyte State University–San Juan Campus, who discusses the fundamentals of bibliometric analysis, data extraction techniques, and the various tools and software used in extracting and analyzing bibliometric data.

The program concludes with closing remarks from the Vice-President of the University of Eastern Philippines and TWG Member of VMCJPI, who expresses appreciation to all participating institutions and encourages everyone to maximize this opportunity to enhance their research competencies and contribute to the global research landscape.

The activity gathers faculty and staff from the member institutions of VMCJPI, reaffirming the consortium's commitment to fostering research excellence, collaboration, and impactful scholarship that transcends local boundaries and contributes to global knowledge.
