SLSU Secures Multiple Medals at the 2026 Regional Skills Olympics
Southern Leyte State University proudly congratulates its outstanding participants and coaches for their remarkable achievements in the 2026 Regional Skills Olympics! Leading the university’s triumphant run was Renzel Hainz A. Flores, who clinched the Gold Medal in IT Network Systems Administration under the expert guidance of coach Joedee Mark Rodriguez.
The university’s success continued with Rod B. Pomento, who earned a Silver Medal in Electrical Installation with the support of coach Jun Marlou M. Evale, and Ashlee Althea Jhainne B. Etable, who also secured a Silver Medal in Hotel Reception alongside coach Florencio Payac.
The dedication, discipline, and excellence have brought pride and honor to Southern Leyte State University. These achievements reflect not only the skills and perseverance they possess, but also the University’s continuing commitment to producing globally competitive and industry-ready learners.
The WorldSkills Philippines Eastern Visayas – 2026 Regional Skills Olympics is a premier technical-vocational competition organized by TESDA Region VIII to showcase the region's top-tier skilled talents. Held in Tacloban City, the event brings together elite trainees and graduates from across the six provinces of Eastern Visayas. Participants compete in 20 diverse trade areas—ranging from Cybersecurity and Web Technologies to Welding and Restaurant Services—to demonstrate their mastery of international industry standards.
The event serves as the official qualifying stage for the Philippine National Skills Competition, acting as a springboard for young professionals aiming for the global stage. By simulating high-pressure, real-world work environments, the Olympics bridge the gap between classroom training and global employment requirements. This competition underscores TESDA’s commitment to "elevating regional talents," ensuring that the local workforce remains competitive, innovative, and future-ready.
