SLSU Prepares Graduating Students through Job Seeking Seminar 2026

Southern Leyte State University, through the Career Center Services, conducts the Job Seeking Seminar 2026 on May 11, 2026, at the SLSU-Main Multipurpose Court, bringing together graduating students of the Main Campus for a whole-day career readiness activity.

The seminar is an annual initiative of the University aimed at preparing graduating students for employment and their transition from academic life to the world of work. It provides participants with practical knowledge on labor employment, resume preparation, application documents, interview readiness, and professional presentation.

The activity supports the University’s contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting lifelong learning and career readiness among students, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by equipping graduating students with employability skills needed for productive employment and decent work. The involvement of partner agencies and University resource persons also reflects SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as the activity strengthens collaboration in support of student development and workforce preparation.

The program opens with the preliminaries, followed by a welcome message from Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Vice President for Student Engagement and Support Services. The morning session features Mr. Joshua Colibao, Labor and Employment Officer II from DOLE Region VIII, who discusses “Labor Employment for Graduating Students (LEGS).” The session gives students relevant information on employment opportunities, labor concerns, and important reminders as they prepare to enter the workforce.

In the afternoon, Ms. Karen Molina from the Faculty of Education, Technology, and Innovation discusses “Building Your Profile: Resume and Other Pertinent Documents.” Her session emphasizes the importance of preparing strong application documents that reflect the students’ competencies, experiences, and professional readiness.

The final session is delivered by Mr. Harold James Bravo from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, who discusses “Ace that Interview: Tips and Strategies.” The session guides students on how to present themselves confidently during job interviews, respond to questions effectively, and demonstrate professionalism in the application process. The activity concludes with a closing message from Ms. Jessa Larni B. Espinas, Director of Student Affairs and Services.

Through the Job Seeking Seminar 2026, SLSU reaffirms its commitment to equipping students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue employment opportunities and become work-ready graduates. The activity also highlights the University’s continuing efforts to support student development beyond the classroom and strengthen graduates’ readiness for meaningful participation in the workforce.
