SLSU Strengthens Global Academic Engagement in Vietnam

Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), through the BS Business Administration and BS Information Technology Programs of the Tomas Oppus Campus, alongside the BS Entrepreneurship Program of the San Juan Campus, proudly takes part in the “Advancing Global Competence in Business and Information Technology: A Short-Term Academic Exchange and Cultural Immersion Program” at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), Vietnam, from May 10–18, 2026.

A delegation composed of fifteen (15) student participants and three (3) faculty representatives engages in a week-long international academic and cultural immersion designed to strengthen global competence, deepen interdisciplinary learning, and enhance intercultural understanding in the fields of business, information technology, and entrepreneurship.

The program officially commenced on May 11, 2026, at Liberty Hall, Saigon Campus, marking a significant milestone in the continuing partnership between SLSU and HUTECH. The opening ceremony gathered university leaders, faculty members, and students from both institutions in a meaningful celebration of academic collaboration, cultural exchange, and shared commitment to excellence in higher education.

Throughout the exchange, participants are immersed in a dynamic blend of academic and experiential learning activities. These include specialized lectures on contemporary business and marketing trends in Vietnam and ASEAN, digital marketing laboratory sessions, startup and entrepreneurial project presentations, and collaborative academic discussions with HUTECH faculty and students. Complementing these are structured workshops exploring consumer behavior and regional market perspectives, allowing students to gain practical insights into global and ASEAN business environments.

Beyond the classroom, the program extends into rich cultural immersion experiences that allow participants to engage with Vietnam’s heritage, modern urban landscape, and student community life. Through campus tours, cultural exchange activities, and guided visits to key historical and economic sites, students develop a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity, global interconnectedness, and international academic cooperation.

This outbound mobility program represents the reciprocal phase of the academic partnership between SLSU and HUTECH, following the successful inbound exchange previously hosted by SLSU. It reinforces the university’s commitment to internationalization by providing students and faculty with meaningful global exposure that enhances academic growth, professional readiness, and intercultural competence.
