SLSU-TO Hosts International Seminar on Flexible Learning Materials for Future Educators
Southern Leyte State University–Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO) campus hosts an international seminar on developing flexible learning materials for diverse educational contexts at its Audio Visual Room. The seminar gathers educators, pre-service teachers, and international interns, including the SEA Teacher Pre-Service and Student Intern Batch 11 from Universitas Islam Darul Ulum Lamongan, Indonesia—Avarel Ghilman Prabowo, Asy Syahrul Haj Marghubi, Chintya Gemawati Jania, and Rafaisma Ironika Ananta—alongside Thailand-bound student interns from SLSU-TO.

Ms. Lovely P. Lili, leader of the Thailand student teacher delegation, introduces the participants and speakers. Dr. Cobilla leads the first lecture, focusing on the development of effective and adaptable modules for elementary and secondary learners across Philippine and Indonesian educational settings. In the second session, Ms. Ma. Jovillea T. Palanca, Extension Coordinator and Elementary Education faculty member, discusses strategies for designing printed flexible learning materials, particularly for Special Education (SPED). The third lecture is delivered by Ms. Crystal T. Labunog, who shares insights on creating multimedia instructional materials for elementary learners in Indonesia from a Filipino student teacher’s perspective.

An open forum follows, allowing participants to engage with speakers, exchange ideas, and discuss instructional material development and cross-cultural teaching experiences. The program concludes with impression sharing led by Prabowo, the distribution of certificates by Dr. Borong, and a closing message from Dr. Cobilla.

The seminar highlights the importance of innovation and international collaboration in education, equipping future educators with practical skills in designing flexible and inclusive learning materials. This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 4, which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.
