Celebrating Excellence in Public Service: Dr. Jonathan J. Palco Advances Community Empowerment through Extension Projects
Dr. Jonathan J. Palco, a committed educator and extensionist of Southern Leyte State University- Maasin City Campus has made remarkable contributions to community development through his leadership and involvement in various extension projects that uplift public servants, school communities, and other stakeholders. One of the extension projects implemented by Dr. Jonathan J. Palco was Project ReCap: Retooling and Capacitating Maasin City Employees which was launched to support Maasin City employees and prospective examinees in their preparation for the Civil Service Examination.
This initiative provides participants with strategies and procedures for effectively answering questions across key competency areas such as Numerical Ability, Analytical Ability, Verbal Ability, and General Information. By equipping participants with essential knowledge and critical thinking skills, the project aims to improve their chances of passing the exam and advancing their professional development.
Anchored on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, Project ReCap underscores the value of creating opportunities for stable, rewarding employment. It demonstrates Dr. Jonathan J. Another extension project was Project SHIELDS: Promoting a Safe, Healthy, and Inclusive Learning Environment which was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Education- Maasin City Division to capacitate both the teaching and non-teaching personnel, including stakeholders, to create safer and more compassionate school environments.
Project SHIELDS focused on building competence in child protection protocols, managing bullying cases, and addressing various forms of violence within schools. Participants were guided in crafting their school-based child protection policies, forming Child Protection Committees, and developing advocacy materials that promote a culture of safety and inclusion.
Through Project SHIELDS, Dr. Jonathan J. Palco has significantly contributed to child welfare advocacy and institutional strengthening in education. His leadership empowered school communities to take proactive steps in ensuring that no learner is left behind in an environment free from harm and discrimination.
Crowning his series of achievements, Dr. Jonathan J.
