SLSU Maasin City Campus Conducts In-House Review and Evaluation of Research and Extension Outputs Maasin City, Southern Leyte On April 22, 2026, Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) – Maasin City Campus successfully held its In-House Review and Evaluation of research and extension outputs, gathering faculty members, researchers, and evaluators in a collaborative effort to strengthen the institution’s culture of research and community engagement. 

These opening segments set a solemn and purposeful tone for the academic activity. A warm welcome message was delivered by the Campus Director, Dr. Frederick C. Aniga, who emphasized the importance of research and extension initiatives in driving innovation and addressing community needs. He highlighted the university’s commitment to academic excellence and societal impact. Following this, Ms. Irene P. Carbonilla, MSW, RSW, Coordinator for Research and Innovation, presented the Statement of Purpose. She outlined the objectives of the in-house review, stressing its role in ensuring quality, relevance, and alignment of research and extension projects with institutional and national priorities. 

The foresight of the in-house review was provided by the invited evaluator, Dr. Juanita M. Costillas. She shared insights on the significance of rigorous evaluation processes in improving research outputs and extension programs, as well as in preparing projects for external review and publication. The highlight of the activity was the In-House Review Proper, which featured presentations of various scholarly and extension outputs. These included research proposals, completed research studies, extension proposals. Faculty presenters showcased their work, demonstrating innovation, methodological rigor, and responsiveness to community needs. Evaluators provided constructive feedback to further enhance the quality and impact of each project. 

 

This segment encouraged meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among participants. The program concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Michael Malachy D. Dagami, DPA, JD, RIPE Head, who commended the participants for their dedication and contributions to the university’s research and extension agenda. He underscored the importance of continuous improvement and active participation in scholarly activities. Overall, the in-house review and evaluation served as a vital platform for academic growth, reinforcing SLSU Maasin City Campus’s commitment to excellence in research and extension services.
