FHTM Students Ready to Shine: Embarking on an International On-the-Job Training Experience
In a celebratory event, sixteen dedicated BS Hospitality Management students from Southern Leyte State University–Sogod Campus, Faculty of Hospitality, Tourism and Management (FHTM), gather to receive their send-off for an international on-the-job training program in Hong Kong. The student-interns undertake their training at the prestigious Langham Hotel, where they gain valuable industry experience abroad.

The ceremony, held at the university campus, was attended by distinguished guests and faculty members, including Vice-president Constantino G. Medilo, Jr., Dean Dr. Dinah F. Catamco of the Faculty of Hospitality, Tourism, and Management, BSHM Program Head Ms. Alma Arnejo, and Director Ingrid Uy of the Global Engagement and Strategic Partnerships Office. The event was also graced by the students’ proud parents and fellow faculty members.
During the event, Vice President Medilo emphasizes the importance of international exposure and real-world experience for students pursuing careers in hospitality. Dean Dr. Catamco encourages the students to embrace the upcoming opportunities and challenges, highlighting how such experiences are vital for their professional growth.

Before the send-off ceremony, a series of workshops occurs, including the Personality and Professional Development Seminar and the Pre-departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS). These events are organized by the Event Management Classes as part of their Experiential Learning Activities. The send-off ceremony signifies a major milestone in the students' educational journey, as they prepare to immerse themselves in the dynamic hospitality industry of Hong Kong. Eager to learn, grow, and leave their mark, these students are ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities abroad.
