NSTP and Health Services Lead Successful Blood Donation Drive at SLSU

The Blood Donation Drive was successfully conducted on March 14, 2026 at MPC, SLSU Main Campus. The activity aimed to encourage voluntary blood donation and help provide an adequate supply of blood for patients in need. The event was organized by National Service Training Program (NSTP) and Health Services offices through partnership with Red Cross Maasin chapter and Rural Health Unit Sogod personnel who ensured that the activity was carried out safely and efficiently.

The program started with a short program and followed immediately by the registration of participants. A health screening was conducted by medical personnel. The screening included checking the donors’ vital signs, hemoglobin level, and general health condition to ensure that they were qualified to donate blood. After the screening process, eligible donors proceeded to the blood extraction area where trained medical staff carefully collected the blood.

National Service Training Program (NSTP) students and staff members participated in the activity. Some individuals who initially registered were unable to donate due to health concerns identified during the screening process. However, a significant number of participants were able to successfully donate blood, contributing to the blood supply needed by hospitals and patients.

Throughout the event, volunteers assisted in guiding donors, managing the registration process, and ensuring that the donors were comfortable before and after the donation. Donors were given refreshments and allowed them to rest after donating blood.

Overall, the Blood Donation Drive was a meaningful and successful activity that promoted awareness about the importance of blood donation. The event not only helped collect blood for those in need but also encouraged more individuals to become regular blood donors in the future.
