SLSU Librarians Explore Vietnam’s Innovative Learning Hubs through International Library Collaboration Visit

As part of a strategic initiative to strengthen international academic partnerships and advance library and information services, Southern Leyte State University librarians Ms. Geanrose Colonia, Ms. Lowella Prado, and Ms. Love Lee Fernandez participated in a collaborative library visit to Vietnam on November 3–7, 2025. The team’s primary destination was Tra Vinh University’s Center of Excellence in Learning Resources and Academic Support (CELRAS). To further promote cooperation and library exchange between Vietnamese and Philippine universities, the delegation also visited nearby institutions to explore potential areas of collaboration. Through the facilitation of Dr. Tieu Thanh Thuy, Director of TVU–CELRAS, the team visited the University of Management and Technology (UMT) Library and the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City–University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH–VNUHCM) Library and Museum.

This international engagement strengthened professional networks and advanced SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive, accessible, and innovative learning environments. It also supported SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as Southern Leyte State University, Tra Vinh University, University of Management, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City–University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Technology, and Samar State University held productive discussions to broaden collaboration in library services, research support, and digital transformation initiatives.

The delegation from SLSU and SSU also observed CELRAS’ service delivery processes, client engagement strategies, and modern library operations—highlighting approaches aligned with SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. A tour of CELRAS’s five-story library further showcased innovative resource organization systems and technology-enhanced services.

Overall, the collaboration visit provided SLSU Librarians with valuable insights and strengthened its commitment to building modern, learner-centered, and globally connected library services.
