SLSU Conducts Economic and Financial Literacy Webinar in Observance of EFL Week

In celebration of the nationwide observance of Economic and Financial Literacy (EFL) Week, Southern Leyte State University held a webinar titled “Towards an Economically Informed Workforce: FL Basics, Practical Finance, and Tax Education.” The event aimed to boost financial awareness among employees and equip them with practical knowledge they can use in both personal and professional decisions.

The webinar, conducted earlier this afternoon, highlighted three essential areas of financial literacy. One of the most engaging segments focused on income tax and employee compensation. Participants were guided through the different parts of their payslips, common tax deductions, and other important details that helped them clearly understand their financial responsibilities. This session empowered employees to make better financial choices and to fully maximize the benefits available to them.

To build on their existing knowledge, the resource speaker also provided a brief but valuable refresher on basic economic and financial concepts. Revisiting these foundational ideas helped employees deepen their understanding of how financial systems work and see how these concepts influence their everyday decisions.

The final part of the webinar offered practical financial management strategies that employees can apply immediately. Through simple, actionable tips on budgeting, saving, and smart spending, participants were encouraged to develop healthy money habits and manage their resources more effectively.

The activity demonstrated the University’s strong commitment to supporting employee development and promoting financial empowerment. By organizing this webinar, SLSU continues to champion the importance of building a workforce that is confident in managing financial responsibilities and making informed decisions for long-term stability.

The celebration of Economic and Financial Literacy Week serves as a meaningful reminder that financial literacy is not just information—it is a life skill that empowers individuals daily. With the insights gained from this training, employees are encouraged to keep learning, practice responsible financial habits, and take proactive steps toward securing their financial future.
