HELM Fellows of SLSU Recognized During Philippine Higher Education Leadership Summit

Three representatives from Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) were recognized as Higher Education Leadership Mentoring (HELM) Fellows during the 2025 Philippine Higher Education Leadership Summit held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) on October 16, 2025.

The HELM Fellows include Ms. Claerchille Jhulia C. Robin-Tan, Executive Assistant; Dr. John Paul R. Gapasin, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Science; and Dr. Aldwin M. Teves, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

The 2025 Philippine Higher Education Leadership Summit aims to strengthen collaboration among UPLB’s higher education institution (HEI) partners in the areas of research, public service, and academic leadership. It also serves as a platform to discuss emerging trends in higher education and to share innovative strategies for achieving institutional excellence.

In the latter part of the event, a roundtable discussion was conducted with higher education leaders. During this session, Dr. Jude A. Duarte, University President of SLSU, emphasized the institution’s continuing efforts toward internationalization. He highlighted various initiatives that enable faculty and students to participate in international partnership exchanges.

Dr. Duarte underscored that these partnerships have greatly contributed to the holistic development of both learners and faculty members, as they go beyond internship programs to include collaborative research, academic development, and other engagements.
