SLSU’s Dr. Malangsa Shares Expertise as Resource Person in EVSU’s Impact Assessment Workshop

Dr. Rhoderick D. Malangsa of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) served as the resource person in the Phase 3 Training Workshop on Impact Assessment of Extension Programs and Projects, organized by Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU). The workshop was held on June 23–24, 2025, at the EVSU ORDExS Studio Room.

The two-day training aimed to enhance participants’ competencies in assessing and documenting the outcomes of extension initiatives. Topics on the first day included reviewing extension proposal documents, the Theory of Change and Impact Pathways, and the Most Significant Change approach. The second day focused on Bennett’s Hierarchy of Program Outcomes and the preparation of impact assessment reports.

Participants took part in hands-on training sessions and output presentations, reinforcing their understanding through practical application.

Present during the event were Dr. Analyn C. Españo, Vice President for Research and Development and Extension Services at SLSU; Prof. Rustom D. Clemente, SLSU Director of Extension Services; along with extension heads, coordinators, project leaders, and extensionists from various campuses.

In her message, Dr. Españo highlighted the people-centered mission of extension work, stating, “The HEART of this framework reminds us that behind every program are real people—individuals and families whose lives we strive to uplift through empathy, dedication, and shared purpose.”

The workshop concluded with Prof. Clemente expressing his appreciation for the participants’ active involvement and dedication.

This collaborative initiative supports key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities—by advancing evidence-based, impact-driven practices in extension and community development.
