SLSU Receives ISO 9001:2015 Certification, Reaffirms Commitment to Quality

Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) has officially received its ISO 9001:2015 recertification, marking the successful conclusion of a rigorous audit process and the beginning of its third certification cycle. The awarding ceremony, held at the Main Campus Board Room, symbolized SLSU’s enduring commitment to quality assurance and ongoing institutional advancement.

The certification was granted following a comprehensive three-day audit conducted from September 25–27, 2024, by SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. The audit covered four campuses—Sogod, San Juan, Tomas Oppus, and Bontoc—and evaluated the university’s adherence to international quality standards.

Ms. Lea Solis Clamar, Assistant Manager of Socotec Certification Philippines, Inc., formally presented the certificate and received by Dr. Dewoowoogen P. Baclayon, Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Constantino G. Medilo Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services. In Ms. Clamar’s congratulatory message, she commended the university's unified efforts in attaining this standard.

“Being ISO 9001 certified is a worthwhile effort. Not only will your organization be more efficient and quality-driven, but your employees and customers will also see the significant and positive difference.”

In his acceptance and commitment message, Dr. Medilo, conveyed pride while reminding the university community of the responsibilities inherent in this certification. “We accept this certification with a sense of pride, but more importantly, with a strong sense of responsibility. We must sustain our quality management system through transparency, efficiency, and continuous improvement.”

Dr. Dewoowoogen P. Baclayon, Vice President for Administration and Finance, delivered the closing message, calling the recertification “a symbol of the discipline, integrity, and teamwork” that define SLSU’s governance.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of key university administrators, faculty deans, and members of the Quality Assurance Office. SLSU has once again affirmed its steadfast pursuit of excellence in its academic and operational endeavors, serving the community of Southern Leyte and beyond.

This ISO certification underscores SLSU's dedication to the continuous enhancement of its educational and academic processes, directly contributing to SDG 4: Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education.
