SLSU Conducts Workshop on Identification, Grading, and Planning of Risk Management

On April 17, 2024, in accordance with the quality assurance standards set forth by the Accreditation Agency of Charted Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) conducted a workshop on Identification, Grading, and Planning of Risk Management which served as a crucial initiative aimed at enhancing the university’s risk management practices.

Recognizing the importance of effective risk management in ensuring organizational resilience and achieving objectives, the workshop aimed to enhance SLSU’s risk assessment capabilities. By leveraging the Risk Assessment Cycle/Procedure as a guide, the workshop equipped the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify, monitor, evaluate, and treat significant strategic and operational risks across all organizational processes. Moreover, the workshops’ scope, which encompassed the delivery of quality instruction, research development, and extension services, underscored its relevance and applicability to AACCUP’s standards for institutional effectiveness. Drawing upon reference materials such as Core Processes and Procedures, Risk Registers, and Risk Response Strategies, the workshop provided the participants with practical tools and guidelines to effectively integrate risk management principles into their respective areas of responsibility. Through interactive sessions, case studies, and group exercises, participants had the opportunity to apply learned concepts to real-life scenarios and developed action plans for implementing risk management practices within their departments or units. By enhancing risk management principles, SLSU contributed to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring continuity and quality in education services. Furthermore, through collaboration with accrediting agencies like AACCUP, SLSU fostered partnerships that promote quality enhancement and continuous improvement in higher education institutions, which aligns with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

By investing in this workshop, SLSU demonstrated its commitment to continuous improvement and quality enhancement, which aligns with AACCUP’s standards and expectations for excellence in higher education institutions.
