Lend a Hand, Mentor a Friend 2.0: Upgrading Competencies of the ECCD Teachers

The Lend a Hand, Mentor a Friend 2.0 takes place on 6th of April, 2024 at ABC Hall, DILG Building, Bontoc, Southern Leyte, in collaboration of Faculty of Elementary Teacher Education, SLSU-Tomas Oppus, and LGU Bontoc, Southern Leyte, to upgrade competencies of the ECCD teachers, enabling to provide quality services to young children.

The event commenced at 8 in the morning, immediately followed by the first activity with Dr. Stella Marie D. Consul as the Resource Speaker on the topic, Strategies in Teaching Phonics and Word Recognition. Discussions on another set of topics- Strategies in Teaching Print Awareness, Developing Early Numeracy: Skills of Children: Number Sense, Developing Early Numeracy Skills of Children: Pattern Awareness, and Teaching Children with Additional Needs will be delivered by another set of extensionists from the Elementary Teacher Education Department in separate schedules. After all the speakers has spoken, the proponent and collaborating agency finalized a culmination program will be held on May 4, 2024.

Attendees from SLSU-Tomas Oppus are the Campus Director, Dr. Clemente H. Cobilla; SLSU-Tomas Oppus Extension Coordinator, Mrs. Ma. Jovillea T. Palanca; Elementary Teacher Education Extensionists headed by Dr. Melbert O. Hungo and; Selected BEED Student Extensionists. On the contrary, attendees from the Collaborating Agency are the Municipal Mayor of Bontoc So. Leyte, Hon. Noel E. Alinsub, duly represented by Hon. Joel T. Guasa, Municipal Councilor and; MSW Head, Ms. Iarah P. Eralino, RSW (Registered Social Worker). Additionally, ECCD Focal Person, Mr. Anthony T. Galano and; 38 ECCD Teachers also affixed the juncture.
