Japan's SAIKA Social Welfare visits Southern Leyte State U to renew partnership

SAIKA Social Welfare Inc. from Japan recently paid a visit to Southern Leyte State University on May 21-26, 2023, to renew and strengthen their partnership.

During the visit, SAIKA CEO Masayuki Matsuo and Southern Leyte State U representatives also focused on the renewal of their partnership. The two institutions have a long-standing collaboration since 2018 that focused on internationalization initiatives and promoting cooperation.

The discussions centered around updating and clarifying the terms and conditions of their collaboration, ensuring a shared understanding of roles and responsibilities.

SAIKA Japan has played a crucial role in supporting the university's Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP), providing valuable international exposure to students from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) and the College of Technology (COT).

Further, the visit aimed to discuss the implementation of SIAP and explore opportunities for additional collaboration in promoting international initiatives.

Southern Leyte State U has also received feedback and updates on their project proposals submitted to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

These proposals seek funding to establish a Solar Powered Japan-Philippine Automotive and Electro-Mechanical Engineering Laboratory and Coconut Bio Diesel Research and Development Hub. The visit provided an opportunity to strategize and improve future submissions to address pressing social and environmental issues in the communities.
