Southern Leyte State U, TVU renew partnership aiming for more collaborative activities

Southern Leyte State University and Tra Vinh University (TVU) renewed their partnership through signing of Memorandum of Agreement on March 24, 2023.

The collaboration aims to establish international academic ties towards a better academic and community service to Southern Leyte State U and TVU.

Since the first partnership agreement was signed in 2013, the two institutions have been engaging in various academic and co-curricular activities and developing a robust educational environment that enables a positive and sustainable impact.

A total of four MOAs were signed by the two institutions. Two of which are new documents focusing on faculty exchange and cultural exchange. The rest were existing partnerships with TVU which were successfully renewed.

Highlighting that the two institutions have similar missions, Southern Leyte State U President, Dr. Jude A. Duarte expressed his confidence that the ongoing partnership with TVU will continue to pave a strong pathway for SLSU to move more effectively in the future with more collaborative activities.

"We are very glad to have been visited by our loyal and trusted partner, TVU. In our exchange of ideas, we will be helping each other to establish what we have started for the better understanding of our university and our people.”

During the MOA signing, TVU was represented by Vice Rector Dr. Diep Than Tung, along with Dr. Phung Van De, Director of International Education Institute; Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Khanh, Director for International Collaboration Office; Dr. Chau Ti Hoang Hoa, Vice Director of the International Collaboration Office; and, Dr. Thieu Thanh Thuy from the Center of Excellence in Learning Resources and Innovation.

Vice Rector Dr. Diep Than Tung said that their collaboration with Southern Leyte State U has been fruitful so far.

"Not only will this partnership help us grow and become stronger, but it will also focus on bringing constructive change in the long run," Dr. Tung said.

They further discussed the best course of action moving forward and potential areas of collaboration between the two institutions. Southern Leyte State U and TVU have agreed to move ahead with various initiatives, including faculty exchange program, student internship abroad, cultural exchange program, and international library networking.

For Southern Leyte State U, aside from Dr. Duarte, the event was also attended by Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Annabelle M. Hufalar, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Dewoowoogen P. Baclayon, Vice President for Students and Auxiliary Services; Dr. Ingrid M. Uy, Director for External Linkages and International Affairs; and some Deans and Directors.
