Southern Leyte State U launches first-ever coffee table book to commemorate 18th year anniversary

Dubbed as “Moments of 18”—Southern Leyte State University successfully launched its first-ever coffee table book, commemorating its 18th year institutionalization as the lone state university in the province of Southern Leyte.
Held last December 16, 2023, the launching of Moments of 18 was part of a tri-series event that included Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes’ last State of the University Address, and the Honoring of Partners ceremony at Hotel de SLSU’s Coffee Prose.

Showcasing SLSU’s growth from its humble beginnings, Moments of 18 is a testament of how the university’s drive for excellence has continued to propel the institution towards delivering quality education throughout the years.
The book highlights a visual collection of SLSU’s rich history, milestones, and notable achievements that shaped the university to what it is today. It also features exclusive tributes to the former SLSU presidents, and founding pillars that built the university’s name from the ground up.

Spearheaded by the Public Affairs and Strategic Communications Office (PASCom) Head, and the book’s Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Eda J. Opina, the production of this literary piece was made possible through the efforts of the entire PASCOM team and collaborating offices across the entire SLSU-System.

As the committee chairperson of the tri-series event, Dr. Opina also keynoted the core team behind the publication of the coffee table book, with its Layout Artist, Mr. Carlos Martin Irica, and staff writers, Mr. Neil Bryan Fulache and Ms. Lyden Sumudlayon.

Present in the launching event was the CHED Commissioner and SLSU-Board of Regents (BOR) Chairperson himself, Hon. Aldrin A. Darilag with his wife Mrs. Maricel N. Darilag, along the members of the university’s Board of Regents, key officials, and its partners from public and private sectors.

Moments of 18 is the crowning jewel to the great legacy of the former University President, Dr. Ivy G. Yepes, a project that she has long set in the pipeline and now made reality.

This book will serve as a medium for the university to not only celebrate the past, but also reflect on its present and look forward to the future, towards its pursuit of becoming a top institution of the country.
