Southern Leyte State U is among the finalists for GBPR 2022 through its ASEAN citation indexed journals

Out of 217 participating institutions and agencies nationwide, Southern Leyte State University is one of the 14 finalists as announced during the Government Best Practice Recognition (GBPR) online conference on December 1, 2022.

This is the first time that Southern Leyte State U became a GBPR finalist through its ASEAN Citation Indexed Journal, namely the Journal of Educational and Human Resource Development (JEHRD) and Journal of Science, Engineering, and Technology (JSET).

JEHRD (ISSN 2545-9740 and E-ISSN 2545-9759) publishes original research papers and reviews on pedagogy, education, human resource development, tourism, management, business, and economics, as well as other pertinent topics.

Meanwhile, JSET's ISSN 2545-9724 and E-ISSN 2545-9732 publishes original research papers and reviews on physical and natural sciences, technology, engineering, agriculture, mathematics, and other related fields have been indexed in the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI) database in Thailand since 2018.

Both JEHRD and JSET are web-based facilities for the publication of academic and scientific journals of Southern Leyte State U. They are designed to serve as a repository of the journals to provide a platform for wider visibility and dissemination online and to provide journal editors and support staff a venue for easy implementation of the editorial process.

Further, JEHRD and JSET both received the Journal Incentive Program of the Philippines Commission on Higher Education (CHED) under CMO No. 66, Series 2017, and hosted at the Visayas Mindanao Consortium for Journal Publication, Inc. (VMCJPI) in the Philippines.

Southern Leyte State U's Journals Online is a project managed by the Journal Production and Management Unit of the Office of the Vice-President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (OVPRIES)

VPRIES Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy said that being shortlisted as a finalist is already a proof that Southern Leyte State U provides immediate open access to its contents on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

GBPR program is established by Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) to support public sector organizations showcasing and sharing their best and most innovative practices.

In collaboration with the Center of Excellence for Public Sector Productivity (COE-PSP), GBPR fosters innovation and future-oriented thinking in the public sector while also expanding access to quality by incorporating the COE-PSP's knowledge management, and being the direct source of information for the DAP's COE-PSP online repository, the Knowledge Bank, which is open to the public.
