LGU Bontoc implements free CSC exam review for its employees, partners with Southern Leyte State U

Southern Leyte State University has partnered with the Local Government Unit of Bontoc for a project that offers free review and seminar workshops for government personnel of the said town who aspire to take Civil Service Exam (CSE).

CSE, also known as the Career Service Exam, is an examination conducted by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to determine which individuals are deemed fit to work in public service.

The Civil Service Examination Review Project (CISERP) was developed after LGU Bontoc tapped Southern Leyte State U that provides a free comprehensive eligibility examination review to some of the former's casual employees and job order workers. CISERP aims to produce functionally literate, useful and self-reliant, and citizens imbued with the values necessary to become effective members of a democratic society more particularly in LGU Bontoc. It also ascertains to produce workers who are equipped with technical and literacy skills that ensure productivity, and establish a sustainable system for knowledge sharing and learning for partner-clientele and community partners.

The project was officially inaugurated on Saturday, November 5, 2022, attended by some of the LGU Bontoc workers who wish to enroll themselves to the said review. A Memorandum of Agreement was also signed between Southern Leyte State U and University President

According to the CSC, there are two levels of eligibility—Professional and Sub-Professional.

The Professional grants a successful CSE passer both first-level (clerical) and second-level (technical) positions in the government that do not involve practice of profession and are not covered by special or other laws.

Moreover, the Sub-Professional qualifies a CSE passer only for first-level (clerical) positions in the government.

The review already started during the inauguration of the project and will run until March 2023.

Present during the inauguration was the officials of LGU Bontoc headed by the Municipal Councilor and Chairman of the Education and Labor and Employment Committee Hon. Engr. Joel Guasa who was representing Hon. Mayor Noel Alinsub, and the project staff led by Rujube Hinoguin.
