SLSU-CMC convenes for “TS Paeng”

The Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Crisis Management Committee (CMC) Chairperson, Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes, convened all concerned CMC members for a pre-disaster risk assessment and emergency response actions in anticipation of the onset of "Tropical Storm Paeng," held at SLSU Hotel late this morning on October 28, 2022.

All vice presidents, members of the CMC, and Environmental Management (EM) and Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Officers were present during the meeting.

With majority of the members of the CMC attending, the highlights of the meeting include:

  1. Setting of objectives for “TS Paeng” preparedness and response university-wide;
  2. Understanding the tract, scope, and characteristics of “TS Paeng” forecast from PAGASA;
  3. Expecting impacts on settlements, where faculty, staff, and students reside, in high risk areas for flooding and landslides;
  4. Orientation on the functional roles relating to the activation of Incident Command System (ICS) involving Incident Management Teams (IMTs);
  5. Securing all important contact numbers for use by the IMTs;
  6. Emergency response volunteers are on stand-by awaiting further instruction for emergency response.

In disaster preparedness and emergency response in times of great emergencies, SLSU will continue to adapt, adjust, and transform to become a resilient organization.
