President Yepes receives recognition as this year’s one of the most inspiring teachers

The Southern Leyte State University President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes is one of the 28 most inspiring teachers in 2022 alongside other teachers in the Philippines

Dr. President received such recognition in Dumaguete City during the Formation Training and Formal Awarding Ceremony on August 4-7, 2022 organized by the Saceda Youth Lead (SYL), a non-governmental youth organization that aims to empower students and professionals in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region to become effective citizens.

In a Facebook post, Chairperson and Founder of SYL Dave Saceda officially announced the list of this year’s batch of most inspiring teachers on June 27.

“Over six months of national search, over a hundred nominees screened, finally, we are pleased to present the 2022 Most Inspiring Teachers of the Republic of the Philippines," Saceda posted.

Four other teachers from Eastern Visayas region also made it to the roster of 2022 Most Inspiring Teachers—Dr. Marilyn Cardoso of Samar State University, Dr. Eric John Estoque of the Department of Education (DepEd) Tacloban City, Dr. Moises Labian of DepEd Northern Samar, and Dr. Henrietta Managbanag of DepEd Leyte.

Dr. Yepes took it to social media her experience as one of the chosen inspiring educators, saying that the celebration was “an intimate celebration of friendship and achievements, inspiring each other to be the beacon of hope, light, positivity and love.”

“Southern Leyte State U have truly inspired me to be of great service to the university's customers and stakeholders. To all the students whom I was able to engage with since 1995 until present, I've been greatly privileged and more than fortunate to be part of your academic endeavors. Thank you for giving me such opportunity,” Dr. Yepes said.

Dr. Yepes is the third and the current university president of Southern Leyte State University where she was appointed on December 19, 2014. The Board unanimously approved her re-appointment and is now serving her second term who continuously creates her legacy as the University President.

Through its international partners and link, SYL assists the most inspiring teachers to participate in conferences in Asia, co-lead SYL’s programs in the ASEAN, and spearhead projects for teachers, the youth, and local government units in the Philippines.
