Southern Leyte State U’s Army ROTC welcomes new batch of cadet officer aspirants

The National Service Training Program (NSTP) - Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) of Southern Leyte State University spearheads the conduct of the Cadet Officer Qualifying Course (COQC) Training on June 27- July 1, 2022, for the 47 selected students from Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology.

The Cadet Officer Qualifying Course [COQC] is a pre-training conducted for the basic ROTC Cadets to be qualified as Cadet Officers or Advance ROTC Cadets. It engages the COQC Cadets with physical challenges and mental tasks allowing them to strengthen their own capabilities, as well as developing to them the spirit of camaraderie and teamwork among their batch.

During the opening ceremony, Vice President for Students and Auxiliary Services Dr. Juanita M. Costillas served as the keynote speaker who emphasized the discipline and positive mental attitude that the applicants and trainees should acquire during the training.

This five-day training aims to produce quality ROTC graduates that will become the source of AFP regular force and fill up the ready reserved units. Further, it seeks to produce effective and efficient leaders of the Cadet Corp of SLSU Army ROTC Activated and Affiliated Units and qualified applicants to proceed to ROTC Summer Camp Training (RSCT) and Philippine Army Advance ROTC Academic Phase Training (PAARAPT).

This initiative is part of the University's goal which is to strengthen students’ capabilities and skills in leadership, personal and social responsibility areas for sustainable development.
