Southern Leyte State U organizes job fair to fast-track jobseekers, employers recruitment

Southern Leyte State U’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and Office of Student Affairs and Services co-spearheaded the conduct of the University's Job Fair 2022 alongside with Local Government Unit (LGU)'s PESO of the Municipality of Sogod on June 6, 2022.

The job fair aims to fast-track the meeting of job seekers and prospective employers and recruitment agencies in one venue on a specific date. It is deemed beneficial to the applicants as it will reduce cost, time, and effort on their part. It also seeks to support the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA)’s anti-illegal recruitment campaign by providing prospective applicants access to legitimate employers/recruitment between two agencies.

The job fair was graced by Southern Leyte State U's Vice President for Students and Auxiliary Services Dr. Juanita M. Costillas, Sogod town Mayor Hon. Imelda U. Tan, Provincial Head of DOLE Southern Leyte Field Office Ms. Eden Ligaya Y. Golong, and another DOLE representative Ms. Mary Jane B. Abenoja. Among the participating agencies of the job fair are local employers such as Mlhuiller Financial Services, DES Marketing, Puregold Price Club Inc. Sogod, Nueve, Jas Manpower, Crispy King, Rose Pharmacy, Palawan Pawnshop, J&F Department Store, Gaisano Capital Sogod, Refi Micro Finance, May Abohan, Ninja Van and LCTC Allied Services.

Moreover, the government agencies that graced the job fair includes Southern Leyte State University- Main Campus and other partner agencies such as DOLE, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

The Job Fair 2022 primarily catered the graduates of the University and also facilitated other job seekers from outside community as part of its social responsibility to general public. It is one of the highlights in celebration of the 169th Founding Day of the municipality of Sogod on June 10.
