SLSU grad school launches tree growing activity for a greener, sustainable Future
The Graduate School of Southern Leyte State University launched a Tree Growing Activity at the university's main campus, in an effort to promote environmental conservation and sustainability.
Led by the Association of Graduate Students (AGS) and Graduate School Student Organization (GRASSO), in collaboration with GS Director Dr. Marie Khul Langub, the activity successfully planted several seedlings of native Philippine trees.
The initiative was made possible by PhD student, Mr. Jeremy Balondo, who generously shared not just the seedlings, but also his expertise on the importance of propagating native trees in the Philippines. The event was a testament to his passion for environmental conservation and sustainability.
According to Mr. Balondo, the activity aims to raise awareness of the importance of conserving the environment and the role that trees play in mitigating climate change.
"We need to start taking action in our own little way to help the environment. Planting trees is a simple yet impactful way to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future," he said.
The activity was well-attended by students, faculty, and staff of Southern Leyute State U, who were enthusiastic about the opportunity to participate in a meaningful and impactful initiative.
The activity showcased the university's commitment to environmental conservation and social responsibility.
As part of its efforts to promote a sustainable future, SLSU has also implemented several programs and initiatives aimed at reducing the university's carbon footprint and promoting environmentally-friendly practices.
The Tree Growing was a resounding activity. It serves as a reminder of the importance of taking action to protect the environment and create a better future for generations to come.
