SLSU Research and Innovation Office Conducts Seminar - Workshop on Qualitative Data Analysis

Last June 10-11, 2025, the Office of the Director for Research and Innovation conducted a two-day seminar-workshop “Exploring Qualitative Data Analysis: A Comprehensive Seminar-Workshop.

The event opened with a warm welcome from Dr. Jude A. Duarte, University President, who expressed his appreciation to both the resource speaker and the participants for their presence and active engagement. He encouraged attendees to apply the knowledge gained to their future research endeavors. Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice President for Research and Innovation, delivered an inspiring message, urging faculty to maximize this opportunity to strengthen their research capabilities and contribute meaningfully to the University's scholarly pursuits. Engr. Khorina O. Aguilar, Director for Research and Innovation, introduced the keynote speaker.

The seminar features Dr. Monell John F. Cañizares, former Chair of the Teacher Education Department at the University of San Carlos, School of Education. A distinguished expert in qualitative research, Dr. Cañizares brings a wealth of knowledge and practical insight to the sessions.

The workshop aims to equip faculty researchers with the skills necessary to conduct effective qualitative data analysis. It offers comprehensive discussions on various techniques and their applications, alongside hands-on training in data cleaning, manipulation, and visualization using relevant software tools promoting inclusive access to research technologies.

This initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 4: Quality Education – by enhancing research literacy and professional growth among educators; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – by fostering innovation through the development of research competencies ; SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – by cultivating collaboration among faculty and academic institutions in pursuit of shared research and education objectives.
