SLSU celebrated the annual National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) in the month of March 2025

Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) celebrated the annual National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) in the month of March 2025 pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 2245, 227, and Republic Act No. 6469 initiated by the Philippine Commission on Women Memorandum Circular No. 2025-01. The celebration is in recognition of women’s role and significant contribution in nation-building and as agents of national development. The 2025 NWMC theme is “WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society” which highlighted the importance of compassionate and harmonized networks towards Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE). The 2025 NWMC focused on the sub-theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas” which reinforces the core objective of RA 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women – to empower women, promote gender equality, and ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities. The phrase “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas” embodied a sense of optimism and hope, symbolizing a future where women’s lives are truly uplifted.

This University conducted various activities spearheaded by the Gender and Development Office which aims to inspire and empower women and girls of Southern Leyte State University to be agents of change and advocate gender equality.
